EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society is the not-for-profit organization
responsible for operating one of Canada’s National Historic Sites located
in Steveston, B.C.
National Historic Site / Leadership Role / Entrepreneurial Visionary Sought
An exciting opportunity now exists for a high calibre individual to lead
the Cannery team as Executive Director. Reporting to the Society board, the
successful candidate will hold bottom line accountability for the site’s
day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for the overall marketing
and promotion of the site, including special events, ultimately to increase
visitations. In addition, you will have oversight for: heritage
interpretation and collections management, public programming, the
operation of a retail outlet, and the maintenance and administration of the
facility.
You will be experienced as both a skilled leader with an ability to manage
up and down the organization in a not-for-profit, historical, or
entrepreneurial environment. Your skills tool kit will include: developed
financial and budgetary acumen, being a highly effective communicator,
exposure to retail management, and preferably government liaison
experience. A history of demonstrated successful grant writing would be
highly regarded. A university degree is required in one of the following:
Museum Studies, History, Fine Arts, Business Administration or a related
academic qualification OR an equivalent combination of training and
experience.
Salary range: $55K-70K
