British Columbia 150 Years calendar
200,000 students have received this historical calendar which
demonstrates the spectacular story of a unique and ever-changing
province!
In 2008, BC celebrates 150 years of cultural diversity, community
strength and achievement since the founding of the Crown Colony of
British Columbia in 1858. In commemoration of this important
anniversary, the Historica Foundation and its partners have produced
this dramatic timeline of BC history which unfolds day by day.
This visual keepsake is yours to view and enjoy by downloading the
PDF: visit _www.histori.ca/calendar_ for the calendars in English and
French.
Historica has also developed a series of lesson plans that will help
teachers make the maximum use of the rich resource of original
historical information collected for this calendar. You can find the
lesson plans at www.histori.ca/bc150lessonplans.
Beginning this January, Historica will publish a series of 11 feature
articles written by prominent Canadian historians in the Vancouver
Sun.
The calendar is the first of three Historica activities to celebrate
BC150 Years; we are also looking forward to the first-ever BC
Provincial Fair in May (Kamloops) and the National Fair in July
(Victoria).
