North Vancouver Museum & Archives
Temporary Position
The Friends of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives Society, acting
on behalf of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives, is seeking an
energetic individual to provide assistance to the Archivist at our
Community History Centre.
The Digitization Assistant will assist with a variety of digital assets
management tasks, such as: listing current locations and formats of
digital images; developing procedures and descriptive templates to
prepare images for long term storage; storing images on a designated
server, according to technical and descriptive standards to ensure long
term retrievability. The position is suitable for a college or
university student pursuing studies in a related field.
*Work Week:* 30 hours per week.
Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; ½ hr. lunch.
*Start Date:* June 17^th , 2008
*End Date: *August 1^st , 2008
*Salary:* $13.50 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, to be paid with final
cheque.
*Qualifications:* The successful applicant will be enrolled in a
related program such as Library Technology or Records Management at a
Community College. Other qualifications include a general interest in
history and museum/archives work, good computer skills (especially
experience using digital image management software), interest and
experience in photography, and excellent written and spoken English
language skills.
This position is funded by the /Canada Summer Jobs /program of Service
Canada and subject to hiring restrictions imposed by that program. The
position is open only to applicants between the ages of 15 and 30, who
attended school full time last year and intend to return to school full
time next year. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed
immigrants.
