Expression' on Tuesday March 18th 2008

The Enowkin Centre, Ullus Collective, Penticton Museum and Penticton
Centennial Committee presents :

'Voice Express - Aboriginal Art & Expression'

Running from March 18th - April 13th in the RN Atkinson Gallery of the
Penticton Museum

You are invited to the public opening of the third exhibit in the
Centennial Heritage Exhibit series on Tuesday March 18th at the
Penticton Museum. This unique collaboration between the En'owkin
Centre, Ullus Collective and Penticton Museum is also in partnership
with the REEL ROOTz Indigenous Media Arts Exhibition 2008, a
seven-week media arts exhibition and series of artist talks
highlighting the strength and diversity of film and video works by
Indigenous filmmakers across Canada.

Voice Express explores the diverse voices of contemporary Aboriginal
artists. Through spoken word, poetry, visual arts, sound-scapes,
masks and sculpture, Voice Express brings together Indigenous
worldviews, which speak of environmentalism, and the importance of
community and traditional cultural values. This exhibition created
from the students of the En'owkin Centre, an Indigenous cultural,
educational, ecological and creative arts organization, is an artistic
visual and audio experience, specific to Indigenous world-views and
artistic expressions that are inspired from Aboriginal ancestral
practices and traditions.

The event will feature the screening of 'Magic on the Water' (48.00
Minutes) (2007). Directed by award winning producer Tracey Kim Jack
(Syilx). 'Magic on the Water' is a feature documentary capturing
poignant stories of the Syilx first peoples and their relationship to
the land and water of the Okanagan. The video will start at 6:00pm

The opening event will include a panel presentation by the artists
and members of the Syilx community. Plenty of native foods, beverages
and music will be on hand so bring a friend!
