Department's management team.  This position provides leadership for =
Heritage Services including the operation of the Surrey Museum, Surrey =
Archives, Historic Stewart Farm, Heritage Support Services and advice to =

Manager of Heritage Services

As Manager of Heritage Services you will report to the General Manager.  =
You will lead Heritage Services through the planning and management of =
personnel and budgets; development, application and monitoring of annual =
goals for heritage programs, services, and facilities; and, provision of =
leadership related to promotion, volunteer recruitment and management of =
heritage collections.  The Manager oversees the maintenance, safety and =
security of Surrey's heritage facilities and provides advice to and =
liaison with Corporate Facilities Management and trades contractors =
regarding heritage and operational issues.  The Manager works with =
senior City staff to support the Heritage Advisory Commission and =
provide input into the annual directions and priorities for the Parks, =
Recreation and Culture Department.

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the philosophy =
and practice of community development and have exceptional interpersonal =
skills and leadership abilities. Technical experience in heritage =
practices and considerable experience in the management and operation of =
diverse heritage facilities and the delivery of program is required.  =
Personnel leadership, financial management, and the ability to =
successfully write grants and manage projects are necessary.=20

Applicants will have a Masters Degree in a related discipline as well as =
considerable hands on work experience in heritage programs, services and =
facility operations with ascending levels of related responsibility over =
a 7-10 year period. You bring experience in recruitment, supervision, =
scheduling, performance management and development of inter-disciplinary =
staff teams within cultural facilities operations.  Extensive experience =
working with volunteers and sustaining active community partnerships is =
required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be =
considered. =20
