White Rock Museum Hosts Lecture Series
 

White Rock: May 5th, 2008

 

The White Rock Museum + Archives is hosting a lecture series titled “In
Their Own Words: Local Authors and Historians on Topics of Local Interest.”
Topics range from First Nations and natural history, to railway, political
and architectural history. Admission is by donation and lectures will be
held in the meeting room of the White Rock Museum + Archives. Speakers in

Saturday May 10th – 10:30am

Donald Luxton – ‘Architectural History in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland’

 

Donald Luxton is the author of Building the West: The Early Architects of
British Columbia and Lions Gate, a history of the construction and cultural
impact of Lions Gate Bridge. He is a founding Director of the Heritage
Vancouver Society and the Victoria Heritage Foundation, Director of the
Vancouver Heritage Conservation Foundation, and founding and current
President of the Canadian Art Deco Society.

 

Saturday May 24th – 10:30am

Lorraine Ellenwood – ‘The Early History of White Rock’

 

Lorraine Ellenwood is the author of Years of Promise: White Rock 1858 – 1958
and is a White Rock historian and Director Emerita of the White Rock Museum
+ Archives.

 

Admission is by donation. Light refreshments will be served.
