Temporary Position
 
SUMMER HISTORY PROGRAM LEADER
  
The Friends of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives Society is 
seeking an energetic and creative individual to lead summer programs for 
children at the North Vancouver Museum and Archives.  The Society has 
successfully presented summer programs for children for many years.  
These programs draw day camps from across the North Shore and allow 
children to learn about their community's history while having fun. 
 
Working under the guidance of Museum and Archives staff, the Summer 
History Program Leader will present three summer programs, Life in a 
Tent! Passports Please! and The Great Outdoors!, to individual children 
and children attending day camps and other organized groups.  Specific 
duties include assisting with research, organizing materials and 
promotions, and presenting hands-on activities and learning experiences 
for children. 
 
Work Week:  4 days per week (28 hours)
 
Term:    June 3 to August 22, 2008
 
Qualifications: The successful applicant will have excellent 
communication and interpersonal skills; experience in the development 
and implementation of programs for children; a demonstrated interest in 
history; excellent spoken and written English; good word processing 
skills and a clean BC Driver's License.  A Criminal Record Check is 
required.   Candidates must be available to work for the entire contract 
period. 
 
Deadline for application:    MAY 23, 2008.
 
Salary:  $14.00 per hour plus 4% holiday pay, paid at conclusion of 
employment.  Position subject to receipt of funding from Direct Access 
Grant Program of the B.C. Gaming Commission.
