cruise on the Fraser River at this year's Fraser River Delta Historical
Cruises hosted by the Delta Museum and Archives. These popular
historical tours are scheduled for Saturday, June 14 and June 21, 2008
and tickets are going fast!
While meandering along the mouth of the mighty Fraser River and enjoying
the breathtaking scenery, participants will hear about the natural and
human history of the delta. Participants will enjoy stories of the
First Nations people whose fishing industry stretches back to time
immemorial, Delta's early settlers and the industries that encouraged
settlements in and along the Fraser River's shores. In celebration of
BC's 150^th birthday, this year's cruise will include stories about the
1858 Fraser River Gold Rush that resulted in a flood of 30,000 miners
and speculators to the area.
Bring your camera as the scenery en route is fabulous and will provide
some wonderful photo opportunities as we travel the waters past Ladner's
Landing, Port Guichon, Canoe Pass, Westham Island, Finn Slough and
Steveston's cannery row.
