*BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine SHop and the BC Orchard Industry Museum*
*to Remain Open during Laurel Packinghouse Renovations*

A Cultural District cornerstone began extensive renovations this
November. During renovations, the BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop and the
BC Orchard Industry Museum, both located inside the Laurel Packinghouse,
will remain open.
The Laurel Packinghouse, Kelowna's first designated heritage building
and the province's oldest standing fruit packinghouse, will undergo
renovations that will take approximately one year to complete. Built
over the winter of 1917/1918, the Laurel Packinghouse will be returned
closer to its original state which includes restoring loading doors and
the loading dock that once ran around the exterior of the packinghouse.
The Laurel Packinghouse is owned by the City of Kelowna and operated by
the Kelowna Museums Society which oversees the two museums housed inside
the Laurel. Both museums will continue with scheduled exhibitions and
school programs for the next year, and the VQA Wine Shop will also
remain open.
Community rentals of the Laurel Packinghouse facility will still take
place for the month of November. Museum events will also go ahead as
planned at the Laurel Packinghouse for the remainder of the year. These
events include the Neighbourhood Nosh, complimentary wine tastings at
the VQA Wine Shop the first Thursday of each month, and two wine and
food pairing seminars, Comfort Foods and Wines on November 13^th and
Stickies and Sweets on December 4^th . To warm-up for the holidays, the
VQA Wine Shop is also offering a complimentary mulled wine tasting on
November 29^th as part of the Downtown Holiday Light Up. Enjoy samples
of mulled wine and fruitcake from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with
performances by the French horn quartet Coils of Gold.

The BC Wine Museum & VQA Wine Shop is open Monday to Friday 10am-6pm,
Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm. The BC Orchard Industry Museum
is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. Admission is by
donation.
