RBC and CMA Announce a New Program for Emerging Professionals
*Ottawa, November 25, 2008 ---* The Canadian Museums Association (CMA)
is very pleased to announce its partnership with the Royal Bank of
Canada (RBC) to establish a new program for emerging young professionals
in the museum field.
Starting early 2009, CMA will offer a new internship program with
financial support from RBC Foundation. "This new program builds upon the
already highly successful programs offered by the Government of Canada
which the CMA administers", said John McAvity, Executive Director of the
CMA. "This is an excellent example of how successful partnerships can
benefit the development of young museum professionals."
"RBC's arts support is pillared on long-term partnerships with mostly
national organizations which help bridge the gap from academic
excellence to professional careers in all aspects of the arts. This
partnership with CMA expands our support to those who are responsible
for how we are exposed to art," said Gayle Longley, Director of
Corporate Donations, RBC Foundation.
This new museum's internship program is a pilot project for recent
graduates to enter the museum workforce and if successful, can lead to a
long-term partnership between CMA and RBC. This would help establish a
permanent program young professionals can count on.
Details will be forthcoming shortly on the CMA website, www.museums.ca
<http://www.museums.ca>. RBC Foundation is the registered charity
through which RBC and its businesses donate to charity across Canada.
