Just a few Squamish Historical Society upcoming events in September to =
make
note of:

Brackendale Fall Fair: Saturday, September 6th 10 am to 5 pm, =
Brackendale
Fall Fair Grounds=20

This is our third year at the Fair! We will be displaying the late Lefty
Goldsmiths antique kitchen appliances again plus an exciting display
entitled "Emily Carr's visit to Brackendale in 1933". We have traced the
artist's connection to the area through her friendship with Sophie Frank =
and
unearthed art work of the area. Anyone who would like to volunteer that =
day
please let us know by this Friday, September 5th.=20

Next membership meeting: Thursday, September 11th at 7 pm at the =
Tantalus
Senior Centre

This promises to be another exciting year! New members are always =
welcome.

The Squamish Historical Society hosts the Forest Heritage Association of =
BC
AGM: Saturday, September 27th beginning at noon at the West Coast =
Railway
Heritage Park; open to the Public at the Squamish Adventure Centre 2:30 =
pm
to 5 pm.=20

The SHS is excited to be hosting the FHABC in Squamish with members and
various invited guests from Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland and the
interior of BC. The Adventure Centre theatre will be an excellent venue =
for
slide presentations planned, on the theme of "Squamish Valley Forest
Industry Heritage Activities". In addition, there will be photo and map
displays concerning select topics of local forest history, including
Squamish Nation involvement in the forestry/wood industry. Among our =
general
goals in hosting this provincial Forest History Association event are:=20

>      To showcase our unique and diverse Squamish history;=20

>      To improve liaison and partnerships for further developing local
programs;=20

>      To attract tourist visitors and cultural heritage investment to
Squamish.
