Vancouver, BC. September 8, 2008 - Fill boiler with water, light fire,
create steam, and away you go! The power of boiling water, all but forgotten
today, was the core of the latest technology just 100 years ago. Steam
powered our transportation, ran the logging industry, powered our mills,
tended our fields. Without it, British Columbia would not have become what
we know it as today.
The West Coast Railway Association (WCRA) announces SteamFest 2008 - a new
family oriented festival for Southwestern British Columbia, to be held
Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2008 at the West Coast
Railway Heritage Park in Squamish, B.C.
SteamFest will feature the world famous Royal Hudson steam locomotive, steam
tractors, Stanley Steamer automobiles, a steam saw cutting up a massive log
as well as miniature live steam in many sizes. A "Day Pass to Adventure"
provides admission to the grounds as well as all rides and attractions -
ride aboard the Royal Hudson train, take a spin in a vintage automobile,
ride the 3 km mini rail - see model and garden size operating railways and
the Heritage Park's great exhibits. There will also be live entertainment
featuring the Kettle Valley Brakemen on the main stage, great food and a
variety of activities for children of all ages.

The West Coast Railway Heritage Park is home to Western Canada's largest
heritage railway collection, including the world famous Royal Hudson steam
locomotive. The 12-acre destination attraction is open year round, and hosts
40,000 guest visits annually.
