Dear BCMAers,

I'm hoping someone might have some advice on the following odd situation.

In 1979, a local resident donated a series of Aboriginal artefacts to the
White Rock museum. These artefacts were found in California (presumably
brought to BC by the donor). Some time ago they were earmarked for
deaccession from our collection, as they don't fit our mandate, but the
question becomes: what do we do with them now? What are the legal and
ethical implications of sending these artefacts back across the border, to
the museum in the town where they were found?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Morag
