The Sunshine Coast Museum is proud to be hosting the Roberts Creek History Project as our newest temporary exhibit. The project came about through the hard work of the two coordinators, Serena Eades and Darcy Davis Case, along with many people from the community who contributed their photos, stories and artifacts. Funding for the project came through a grant from the Sunshine Coast Regional District to the Roberts Creek Community Association.
The exhibit uses text and images to tell the story of a unique community and how it has changed from the early 1900's to the present day. Themes explored in the exhibit are centered around work, politics, food, home, recreation and creativity. These themes are universal, timeless and at the heart of 'community' - you don't just have to be from Roberts Creek to enjoy this.
For those of you who missed the open house at the Roberts Creek Hall last November, or who just want to see it again, the Museum will have the exhibit up until it can be moved to its permanent location in the Roberts Creek library sometime this summer.
The official unveiling of the exhibit at the Sunshine Coast Museum will be on Saturday, March 7th. We are inviting the public to join in the celebration from 2pm - 4pm. Come out and support your local museum, learn more about the diverse communities on the coast, and meet community members. There will be guest speakers, a screening of the film "Peace, Love &Paint" and refreshments will be served.
