Visitor Experience Coordinator
Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site


One of BC's few historically intact canneries, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery
National Historic Site commemorates the history of Canada's West Coast
fishing industry from the 1870's to the present.  The Cannery offers a
variety of interpretive programs for school groups, tourists and the
general public.  We are currently seeking a Visitor Experience Coordinator
to join our team.  Working in close collaboration with the Public Programs
Manager and the Head Interpreter and under the supervision of the Executive
Director, the Visitor Experience Coordinator will be responsible for
creating a memorable experience for all visitors to the Gulf of Georgia
Cannery National Historic Site.


Responsibilities include managing Visitor Services and Cannery Store
operations including;


      Scheduling and supervising staff and volunteers including
      interpreters, special event assistants and retail assistant


      Researching, ordering and stocking Cannery Store


      Managing gift shop and interpreter payroll budgets


      Coordinating school and public programs booking and delivery


      Tracking visitor, program participation and volunteer statistics and
      school and public program evaluations


      Assisting Public Programs Manager in developing, implementing and
      evaluating new programs and events


      Ability to deliver tours and programs from time to time


      Participation in Exhibits and Programs and Health and Safety
      Committees


      Other duties as required


Qualifications:


   ·  Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work both
      independently and as part of a team and to multi-task


   ·  An interest in pursuing a career in the museum field and creating
      memorable museum experiences


   ·  Experience supervising staff and volunteers


   ·  Computer literacy, including the ability to use a Point of Sale
      system to manage gift shop inventory


   ·  French/English bilingual is an asset


   ·  The ability to work evenings and weekends from time to time





Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include an annual
performance-based bonus.
