Thanks Bill and . . .
a Foundation is not the way to go.
That is similar to what the BC Gov did when they turned over the Heritage
funding to the Vancouver Foundation.
This is an unloading of social and heritage responsibility which should be =
a
concern for the government, for our children and all citizens.
Foundations should not become the arbiters of our social and cultural
heritage.
What we need is a properly funded and properly informed Department of
Heritage which not only will adjudicate museum needs but show some
leadership and active participation as well.
Our government's role, past and present, in preserving our history and
cultural life is woeful and passing it off to a foundation would alleviate
them of what little responsibility they have.
Take an example like our provincial department which covers small business,
tourism, and the arts.
This is a pathetic fallacy and an oxy moronic situation.
