Improved Site Offers Online Archive Exploration
For Immediate Release June 30, 2009
Britannia Beach, June 30 2009: The BC Museum of Mining (BCMM) have
launched an advanced new website offering a host of multimedia features
and downloadable material. With online archival images and historical
newsletters, www.bcmm.ca is the place to learn about the history and the
future of BC Mining.
The new website introduces the Museums fresh new look and was created to
enhance communication with visitors, students and teachers, and history
enthusiasts looking to learn more about the Britannia Beach community,
current exhibits and collections, and mining in BC.
As the BCMM continues to catalogue archival images and stories and stage
new collections, art exhibits, and events, it is essential for visitors to
have access to real time information and newly uploaded archives. The easy
to navigate new site offers a searchable database of images and
newsletters, events calendar, and links visitors to the Museums social
media pages such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
Key information and new additions to the site include:
Past, Present, Future: collections and archives, archived images and
historical newsletters, the story of Britannia Beach, Film & television
productions at the Mine, and the Museums research policy.
Multimedia: videos, photos, and links to multimedia and social media sites.
Resources for Teachers and Families: A to Z of Britannia Beach, Activity
recommendations for teachers, quick facts, activities to try at home,
info zone for mining related facts and essentials.
Support Us: support the Museum through annual or one time donations,
sponsor an event, or contribute to our Endowment Fund.
Tour Options: learn about the tours available at the BCMM, such as a
visit to the EPCOR Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant Discovery Centre;
a joint effort by EPCOR and the Museum highlighting the environmental
impacts of mining and the simple effective environmental solution
implemented at Britannia.
Future plans will see the Museum offering further online activities to
engage our audience, such as: The Curators Blog, high-resolution image
library, video footage, additional archival images, and new collections.
