This spring break the Victoria Events
Centre will come alive with the Beauty of the Taiwanese Puppet Theatre Comp=
any,
presented by the Victoria Children=E2=80=99s Museum.=C2=A0
This is the first time the Taiwanese Puppet Theatre has performed in
Canada and the Museum is excited to bring its colourful and unique performa=
nce
to children and families on Vancouver Island. =E2=80=9CPuppet shows are a c=
lassic
experience for every child,=E2=80=9D according to the Mayor=E2=80=99s procl=
amation.=20
=C2=A0
Shows will be
held on March 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Victoria Events
Centre. In addition to the performances, the puppeteers will lead free pupp=
etry
workshops for children at the Emily Carr Branch of the Greater Victoria
Library, from March 17 to 20. Children will learn puppet making and
manipulation and have a chance to meet the puppeteers in person.

excellent opportunity for children to learn about their world in a hands-on=
way

The Victoria Children=E2=80=99s Museum is a non-profit
organization working to establish a permanent centre of learning for childr=
en
aged 2 =E2=80=93 12, where the entire family can celebrate
the joy of sharing science, history and art.

=99, brings programs,
exhibits and activities to children and their families in Greater
Victoria.=C2=A0=C2=A0 Last spring, nearly 4500
children enjoyed =E2=80=9CGo Figure=E2=80=9D, an exhibit developed by the M=
innesota Children=E2=80=99s
Museum.
=C2=A0
This past Fall,
grade four classes from the region=E2=80=99s schools visited the Norval Mor=
risseau art
exhibit at the University of Victoria=E2=80=99s downtown Legacy Gallery whe=
re children
experienced First Nations=E2=80=99 art and storytelling.=C2=A0=C2=A0 Anothe=
r exhibit partnership is planned for September.
