Temporary Position
SUMMER HISTORY PROGRAM LEADER
The Friends of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives Society is seeking a=
n energetic and creative individual to lead summer programs for children at=
the North Vancouver Museum and Archives. The Society has successfully pre=
sented summer programs for children for many years. These programs draw ch=
ildren from across the North Shore and allow them to learn about their comm=
unity's history while having fun.
Working under the guidance of Museum and Archives staff, the Summer History=
Program Leader will present four summer programs, Comic Craze, Around the =
World, Retro Frolic, and Trains, Trolleys & Tugs!, to individual children =
and children attending day camps and other organized groups. Specific duti=
es include assisting with research, organizing materials and promotions, an=
d presenting hands-on activities and learning experiences for children.
Work Week: 4 days per week (28 hours), Tuesday to Friday
Term: June 16 to August 28, 2009
Qualifications: The successful applicant will have excellent communication =
and interpersonal skills; experience in the development and implementation =
of programs for children; a demonstrated interest in history; excellent spo=
ken and written English; good word processing skills and a clean BC Driver'=
s License. A Criminal Record Check is required. Candidates must be avail=
able to work for the entire contract period.
Deadline for application: June 8, 2009
Salary: $14.00 per hour plus 4% holiday pay, paid at conclusion of employm=
ent. Position subject to confirmation of funding from the Direct Access Gr=
ant Program of the B.C. Gaming Commission.
