The Kamloops Art Gallery is delighted to present a multimedia exhibition
of photography and poetry by Kamloops artist Elaine Sedgman, October 3
to November 8, 2009, in the Gallery Under Glass, which is open for
viewing all the time.

 

Elaine Sedgman explores sense of place using storytelling, found objects
and photography in this installation in Gallery Under Glass. She focuses
on the area surrounding Guerin Creek, which is located off Summit Drive
near Thompson Rivers University. With encroaching development, Guerin
Creek has been altered and a small pond in the area is in danger of
disappearing. Sedgman captures this location in photographs that serve
as a record of its current condition. In this exhibition, Sedgman's work
consists of lightboxes featuring photos of the area and orange
construction fencing, making this a great exhibition to view at night. A
poem overlays the work on the exterior glass, exploring the sights,
sounds and experiences that convey a sense of place.
