Hi, everyone,
The Creston Museum has a display case available, as-is, where-is, to offer to anyone who is interested. It's a semi-circular wooden case with glass panels, measuring about 8 feet wide by 4 1/2 feet deep. The original glass remains in two of the curved sections, but the centre curved section is missing, as is the glass in the top and back panels. The six mirrors at the back are intact. I've included a photo (very ghastly quality, I know, but it should give you an idea!)
The case was made by Dickson-Borgeson of San Francisco, and it was used in the Speers Store here in Creston, which opened in 1907, but we don't have a more exact date on the case. As far as I can tell, the finish is original, as are the brass fittings at corners and joints.
We want to dispose of the display case because replacing the glass is beyond our budget, and even if it weren't we really don't have any rooms big enough to use it!
The case is available free to a museum or similar institution, by appropriate donation to a non-museum. If you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible - we would like to have the case out of our storage area by the beginning of January.
Thanks,
Tammy
