NATIONAL NIKKEI MUSEUM & HERITAGE CENTRE
DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR -- job opening
The National Nikkei Museum & Heritage Centre is a multi-use facility in 
Burnaby, BC. Officially opened in September 2000, the Centre houses the 
National Nikkei Heritage Centre and the Japanese Canadian National 
Museum. The Centre's mandate is to promote a better understanding and 
appreciation by all Canadians of Japanese Canadian culture and heritage; 
and an awareness by all Canadians of the contribution of Japanese 
Canadians to Canadian society, through public programs, exhibits, 
services, publications, public use of the facilities and special events.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator 
oversees all aspects of the donation cycle, and is involved in the 
implementation of capital, annual and endowment campaigns for National 
Nikkei Museum & Heritage Centre and Nikkei Place Foundation. The 
Development Coordinator works closely with the Director-Curator, 
Fundraising Administrator and Executive and Fundraising Committees.
We are looking for a Fundraising professional who will bring innovative 
ideas and solutions to our organization's fundraising campaigns. The 
ideal candidate will be a gifted story teller who can inspire and sell 
dreams to diverse audiences.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
.    Plays a key role in helping us reach our fundraising target of 
$315,000 for the 2010 fiscal year.
.    Conducts research to identify and pursue new donation and 
sponsorship opportunities.
.    Coordinates the process of developing and writing funding proposals.
.    Provides on-going stewardship and recognition of donors and sponsors.
.    Contributes to establishing financial targets and fundraising 
tracking systems.
.    Coordinates annual campaign activities including direct mail, 
volunteer coordination and special events.
.    Tracks donations and reports on the financial status of a campaign.
.    Participates in fundraising strategies, ways of controlling costs 
and increasing donations.
.    Maintains donor recognition and stewardship.

QUALIFICATIONS
.    Background in fundraising -- knowledgeable about fundraising as a 
profession.
.    Proven experience in project management -- ability to juggle 
multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities.
.    Familiarity with the local business environment and charitable sector.
.    Passionate about the mission, vision, brand and brand strategy.
.    A collaborative (we) team player.
.    Possesses acute listening skills.
.    Ability to build rapport and relationships with diverse groups, 
donors and the community.
.    Strategic thinker with a strong intuitive sense and down to earth 
style.
.    Interest in Japanese Canadian history and heritage.
.    Ability to write in English clearly and succinctly. Preference if 
the candidate is bilingual in English and Japanese, but fluency in 
English is mandatory.
.    Working knowledge of The Raiser's Edge fundraising software an asset.
