Calling all Volunteers
Are you interested in learning more about Northwest Coast Art? Do you
like to work with people in a social environment? Join our team of
committed volunteers and:
* lead Gallery tours as a VIP docent;
* support special events and public programs;
* support marketing and sales initiatives;
* assist with Gift Shop sales; and
* provide friendly guest services.
Send an email to Deborah Loren at: info at billreidgallery.ca with
"volunteer" in the subject. Be sure to include your name, phone number
and your area of interest.
The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art is a non-profit
organization. We greatly appreciate all of our volunteers who play a
vital role in the operation of the Gallery and the Gift Shop.
Artist Talks
The Gallery is pleased to launch a series of talks featuring artists
from Continuum: Vision and Creativity on the Northwest Coast.
Wednesday September 30, 2009, 5:30 - 7pm
Mike Dangeli (Nisga'a)
Dangeli lives and works in East Vancouver. He has taught workshops and
demonstrated his work internationally. He is a founding director and
dancer in the internationally recognized performance group Git Hayetsk.
Saturday October 24, 2009, 2:00 - 3:30pm
Nicholas Galanin (Tlingit)
Galanin lives and works in Sitka, Alaska. He has a Master's degree in
Indigenous Visual Arts from Massey University, NZ, and a BA (Honours),
from London Guildhall University, UK. He exhibits his works
internationally.
Wednesday November 25, 2009, 5:30 - 7pm
Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas (Haida)
Yahgulanaas lives and works on Bowen Island. He has published a number
of books: the award winning Flight of the Hummingbird, Greystone Books,
2008; and forthcoming Red, Douglas & McIntyre, Fall 2009. He exhibits
his works internationally.
Wednesday January 20, 2010, 5:30 - 7pm
Sonny Assu (Kwakwaka'wakw)
Assu lives and works in Vancouver. He has a BFA from Emily Carr
University of Art + Design, and exhibits his work internationally.
