BC's Travelling Exhibits Marketplace - EOI
Greetings! The BC Museums Association invites museums, art galleries,
sports halls of fame, and all other BC history and heritage
institutions with new or existing travelling or portable exhibits, to
respond ASAP by direct email (see below) to this call for Expressions
of Interest (EOI).
Backgrounder:
The BCMA has a new funding opportunity to subsidize and publicly
showcase BC's travelling exhibits, (or representative portable
components of these), altogether in conjunction with BCMA's 2009
Provincial Workshop Survivor Osoyoos: ReThink, ReTool, ReWork! the
week of October 13- 17, 2009 in Osoyoos, BC.
Exhibit transportation or shipping, travel, accommodation and workshop
registration for institutional personnel required to install, staff
and strike exhibits will constitute the funding package for
participating exhibits. The final funding package will be based on
institutions' response to this EOI.
Goals:
The goals of the "BC's Travelling Exhibits Marketplace" project are
to:
* Promote to peer BC museum & art gallery reps the availability and
booking (earned revenue) opportunities as temproary exhibits in
different BC communities and institutions;
* Add a public involvement opportunity to BCMA's annual provincial
event;
* Publicly exhibit the diverse scope of BC's rich history and visual
arts represented by these temporary exhibits and in turn, promote
and reinforce the importance of BC's museums and art galleries;
* Compile a central, online reference resource of BC's available
Travelling Exhibits and contacts as a member service to promote
increased booking opportunities for temporary exhibits and public
programming.
Public & Event Participant Access:
The principle display venue will be the event host institution, the
Osoyoos Museum. Exhibits may be static or staffed, with public and
Survivor Osoyoos participant access each day. Participating
institutions will be able to promote their museums and galleries and
their collections, as well as bookings of their travelling exhibit.
