Join us as the Original Costume Museum Society rolls out
the red carpet for this year's fundraiser *
Putting on the Glitz: Hollywood Style 1916 - 1946*.

This gala dinner, historical fashion show and silent auction will take
place *Thursday, October 1* at the *Hellenic Centre, 4500 Arbutus
Street, Vancouver*, starting at *6:00 pm*. Last year's event, "Orient
Expressed" sold out and was a huge success, so ensure your place and
good seating by buying your tickets early.

*Ivan Sayers* will play the role of "director" for the evenings
entertainment, a deluxe historical fashion show, *Putting on the Glitz:
Hollywood Style, 1916 - 1946*. A noted Canadian fashion historian, he is
well-known locally for his stellar fashion presentations and witty
commentary.

Using a cinematic theme, Ivan will highlight the best of 20th century
glamour and sophistication with a bevy of models re-creating the stylish
look of 16 stars, from Mary Pickford to Lauren Bacall. As he states,

/"Hollywood connected people to the world of fashion and glamour.
Our show will illustrate the well-dressed lives of the most beautiful,
the wealthiest women in the world, as seen on the screen."/

1920s

Evening highlights will also include a three-course dinner, a retro and
fashion oriented silent auction, door prizes and a no-host bar. The
fashion show runway will be elevated for great viewing. Guests are
welcome to "glamourize" for the occasion.

The *Original Costume Museum Society* has been working towards the
creation of a museum of historic fashion and fabric arts since 1992.
During that time its members have produced exhibitions at numerous
museums in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and on Vancouver
Island. Its members have presented historic fashion shows and
educational programs about the history of fashion at trade schools,
colleges, universities, libraries, theatre groups, museums, and a wide
range of charitable organizations. Its collection of historic fashion,
ethnic clothing, and flat textiles ranging in date from circa 1800 to
1985 has grown significantly.
