Hello all-

We've become pretty enthusiastic about geocaching in the last few months
here at the Police Museum and have had great success with the caches we've
already hidden, with many more planned. (Our recent blog entry on our
caching experiences can be found here:
http://www.vancouverpolicemuseum.ca/weblog/2010/02/where-did-i-leave-my-keys
/).

Below is some information about a workshop we're offering next week; we
think that many of you would be interested, as geocaching provides a unique
opportunity to build relationships with places.

-------------------------

Interested in the geocaching? On Sunday, April 18th from 1:00-4:00 PM, the
Police Museum will be co-hosting a special "Geocaching 101" workshop with
Anthony and Gwen Floyd, an experienced local geocaching team.

At the event you'll be introduced to the basics of geocaching, learn where
to find out about geocaches and how to read cache pages. You'll also look at
a number of different cache containers (some are pretty tricky!) and
introduce you to methods for finding geocaches with your GPS device. We'll
talk about geocaching etiquette. And finally, you'll get to hone your skills
as we hunt for some real caches in the Queen Elizabeth Park.

This session will occur entirely at Queen Elizabeth Park, not at the Police
Museum, and will run rain-or-shine, so please dress accordingly. Our exact
meeting location in the park will be provided to you by email before the
event. Also, it is preferable, but not necessary, to bring your own GPS
device, either a handheld dedicated GPS or a phone-based GPS. If you don't
have access to one, we'll do our best to team you up with someone who
brought one.

Cheers!
