Photographer invited to Fraser River Discovery Centre for Arts and Culture
Week

 

New Westminster, BC - To celebrate BC Arts and Culture Week, nature
photographers are invited to come participate in a photography workshop on
Saturday April 24 at the Fraser River Discovery Centre with award winning
photographer Rick Blacklaws.

 

Blacklaws has been taking pictures in the Fraser River Basin for over thirty
years and his photos have been published in books and documentaries.  During
this intimate workshop he will discuss his experiences photographing the
river and will offer tips to photographers.

 

Saturday April 24 also marks the opening date for submissions for an
upcoming exhibit at the Fraser River Discovery Centre. Photographers of all
ages and abilities will be invited to submit their pictures for *click*
Photos of the Fraser, opening September 2010. Exhibit Coordinator Kathleen
Bertrand, explains, "The Discovery Centre is really about telling other
peoples stories of the Fraser. For this exhibit, we wanted to show the
diversity of the river through photographs. " Submissions will be displayed
on-line and in the gallery.

 

 "Fraser through the Lens" will be held on Saturday April 24 from 2-3:30pm.
The cost is $10 per person and includes admission to the Discovery Centre.

The Fraser River Discovery Centre is an interpretive centre connecting
communities in discovery and celebration of the living, working Fraser
River. It is located at 788 Quayside Drive, New Westminster. The Discovery
Centre is open Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. Admission rates apply for
the galleries
