Subject: Re: [BCMA] Track Light Sources
If you're lighting displays, there are lots of issues about the wavelength of the light you should be using. A very flexible system that we used recently to light a case of aboriginal baskets that was highly light-sensitive was the NOUVIR (no UV or IR) equipment. It's a halogen light source like a projector that guides light directly to the object being lighted with fibre-optic plastic tubes and tiny mirrors. This also means there is no heat on the objects.
It worked superbly for this application, and is used at many museums world-wide. I would also highly recommend the staff who have been nothing but helpful as we decided what pieces we needed. It's not a particularly cheap system, but I believe that it pays for itself with the results you get.

I am hoping someone could help me locate a source of track lighting for either halogen or led lights.
I would also like to find a source for small panel led lights that can be used to light up an exhibit box or case. I would love to get rid of the dreadful 8 foot fluorescent light fixtures we have here!
Thank you!
