[BCMA] Streakers, skimmers, studiers

[Moderated BCMA subscriber listserv.]

The one that I heard refers to the second group as "strollers", but aside
from that, my understanding is that "streakers" are those who walk quickly
through the exhibit, glancing quickly at artifacts and photographs, and only
reading the titles of exhibit panels.
 
"Strollers" will linger at artifacts and photographs which interest them,
will read some Level 1 text, but likely not every panel.
 
"Studiers" look at everything, and read virtually everything, including
labels (and they will likely take the time to fill in your evaluation
forms!).
 
When designing exhibits, my feeling is that the key points of the exhibit
must be evident, even to streakers.
 
I'm sure there will be other responses which go into much greater detail.

Hello fount of knowledge; 

I recall coming across a categorization of typical museum/gallery visitors
as streakers, skimmers, or studiers. Can anyone provide any more info on
that?
