The Central British Columbia Railway and Forestry Museum located in Prince
George BC is looking for a Curatorial Assistant  and a Heritage Interpreter
for the summer of 2010 (funding pending).  

 

The summer student must:

.        be legally entitled to work in Canada. 

.        be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee
status in Canada. 
 Note: Non-Canadian students holding temporary work visas or awaiting
permanent status are not eligible. 

.        be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment. 

.        meet the eligibility criteria of the program for which you have
been approved. 

.        be registered in the YCW on-line candidate inventory. 

.        be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment. 

.        not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while
employed with YCW. 

.        In addition, student participants in a Summer Work Experience
program must: 

.        have been a full-time student (as defined by his or her educational
institution) in the semester preceding the YCW job. 

.        intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the
YCW job. 

 

Duration of employment will be for 16 weeks, 37.5 hours per week at a rate
of pay of $12/hour. Full training will be provided.

 

Heritage Interpreter:  Duties include but are not limited to: greeting
guests, delivering tours, collaboration on the development and creation of
children's programming, assisting with events, maintenance of the museum,
back-up for mini-rail train conductor (training provided).

 

Curatorial Assistant:  Duties include but are not limited to: reseaching and
cataloguing artifacts, interpretation of railway and forestry artifacts and
information, collaboration on stataic gallery displays, conducting tours,
maintenance of the museum

 

Requirements are university level training or senior high school. Must have
excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.  Must have
basic Microsoft computer skills and be comfortable working in a computer
based work environment.  Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be
registered with the Young Canada Works Program, administered by the Canadian
Information Network (CHIN).  Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria
