Best practice is to physically separate your different storage strategies,
if possible. That could mean taking external hard drives off-site or it
could mean using an online backup provider like Dropbox or Mozy.
You probably don't need to do daily backups, by the way... a couple days
of work lost is rarely devastating to an organization. Suppose you have an
"incident" that means you lose your current collection database--it
wouldn't take take long to re-input all that from your paper records. Now,
if you've also lost your paper records, you've got far bigger things to
worry about...
