The next concerts of the season for the Sooke Philharmonic are
coming up in Sooke on Feb 06 and in Metchosin on Feb 07. They have partnered
again this year with the Sooke Region Museum for the Feb 06 concert and will
be donating a portion of every ticket sold to the Museum. This marks the
third season that they have partnered with the Museum.

Mozart in Vienna
Always a favourite, the Sooke Philharmonic's first concert in 2010
features an all Mozart programme. Under the baton of Music Director and
Conductor Norman Nelson, the Sooke Philharmonic Chamber Players will be
joined by soloist Ashley Cumming for this great all Mozart concert
programme. The music programme is: Overture, Don Giovanni, K.527; Horn
Concerto No. 3, K.447, in E flat major, soloist Ashley Cumming; and Symphony
No. 41, K.551 in C major (Jupiter).
The concert will be performed in Sooke on Sat., Feb 6, 8:00 PM, at
the Sooke Community Theatre, and on Sunday, Feb 7, 2;30 PM, at St. Mary of
the Incarnation, 4125 Metchosin Road, in Metchosin.
Tickets are available in Sooke at Shoppers Drug Mart, South Shore
Gallery, Wood Travel, Sooke Region Museum; in the West Shore at Tom Lee
Music; in Victoria at Long & McQuade, Larsen Music and Ivy's Book Shop, in
Metchosin at the Metchosin Country Store, as well as at the door for both

Ashley Cumming is happy to be returning to Victoria for her performance with
the Sooke Philharmonic. A native of Cambridge, Ontario, Ashley earned her
Masters in Performance with Kurt Kellan at the University of Victoria and
her Bachelor of Music in Performance with Nina Brickman in Waterloo,
Ontario. While in Victoria, she was principal and second horn of the UVic
Symphony Orchestra, and was an active solo and chamber musician. She has
performed in workshops such as the Banff Festival
Summer Music, Windfest Chamber Music Workshop and in 2008 studied and
performed in Austria at the International Sommerakademie, Austrian
Masterclasses and privately as part of the Johann Strauss Foundation
scholarship. She is currently at Indiana University in her first year the
Doctorate of Music Performance, where she will also be undertaking studies
in Music History and Early Music. Upcoming engagements include a solo
recital at the end of February at Indiana University and performances with
the University Orchestras. In her free time, Ashley enjoys great friends,
cooking, dance, golf and running.
