What can I do? Personal Choices and Environmental Responsibilities

 

The Jewish Museum & Archives of British Columbia welcomes Dr. Mark Winston for a discussion of personal choices and environmental responsibilities on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm in the Snider Adult Lounge, located in the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (950 W. 41st Ave, Vancouver). 

   

There are innumerable personal actions we could take to improve our environment: zero waste, 100 mile diet, reducing oil dependence, and many others. Does it make a difference? Where does change begin - at the level of the individual or the community? Are individual lifestyle choices personally meaningful, politically important, or irrelevant? 

 

These are just some of the topics to be discussed in this lively evening exploring if and how we can each make a difference. 

 

Dr. Mark L. Winston is a Professor at Simon Fraser University's Department of Biological Sciences and an academic Director and Fellow at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. His research focuses on the life history, caste structure, and reproduction in social insects.
