[BCMA] Museum schedule this weekend

It is going to be a very fun, very busy weekend at the Creston Museum!  The
Found Art Challenge goes Friday and Saturday, and Salad Days follows it on
Saturday evening.

 

In the Found Art Challenge, local artists will transform random junk  -
everything from feathers to flatirons - into creative, innovative, and
one-of-a-kind works of art, in only twelve hours.  Salad Days is a chance to
relive the idyllic days of the 1950s.

 

Here's the schedule of activities to check out:

 

Friday, July 9:

 

10:00 - The Found Art Challenge opens to the public.  Come early to see the
objects the artists are starting with; drop in again later in the afternoon
to see how those objects are being transformed into works of art!  Open till
5:00 PM; admission $2 per person.

 

Saturday, July 10:

 

10:00-1:00 - The artists will be putting the final touches on their artwork.
Open to the public; admission $2 per person.

 

1:00 - Art Show!  All of the completed works of art will be put on display
in a one-of-a-kind art show!  Vote for your favourite to win the Viewers'
Choice Award! 

 

Between 3:00 and 4:00 - The Salad Days barbecue gets fired up - buy your
hotdogs, hamburgers, and other goodies.  Rumour has it there will be ice
cream floats available, too.  Refreshments will be available throughout the
evening. Free admission to everyone for the rest of the evening.

 

4:00 - Awards presentation and live auction of the artwork!  This is your
chance to get one of these one-of-a-kind works for yourself!  

 

5:30 - 1950s style entertainment!  A medley of melodies with Monte Anderson;
"Happy Days" revisited; a chance to meet "Elvis" and "Marilyn," and more.
Decorate your own poodle and pin it on - prizes for the best decorations -
then show it off in the Poodle fashion show!  Show off your hula-hooping
skills, too.  Got some 1950s clothes in the back of your closet?  Dig them
out, put them on, and come on down!

 

9:00 - Grease!  Yep, the musical you love is coming to the Creston Museum
for one night only!  Outdoor showing; bring a lawn chair.
