Summer's only half over, and there's still lots coming up at the Creston
Museum!

Saturday, August 14: Old-Fashioned Tea
The perennial favourite! Tea or lemonade, dainty sandwiches, and sweets,
served on the Museum's shaded patio with some special entertainment!
Three seatings, at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00, and reservations are recommended.
$8 per person

Tuesday, August 17: The Boy in the Picture
You've seen the photo of the Last Spike in the CPR main line at
Craigellachie, BC. Remember the young man crowding his way to the front,
peering around the dignitaries driving that golden spike? That is Edward
Mallandaine, who later moved to Creston where he was one of the most
prominent people in the community for fifty years. Former Creston resident
Ray Argyle has just written a book about Edward Mallandaine called "The Boy
in the Picture." He (Ray, not Ed) will be at the Creston Museum on Tuesday,
August 17 for a special presentation about the book. Free admission to the
book signing, and copies will be available for sale.

Friday, September 3: Box Social
The traditional community social event of the late 1800s and early 1900s
returns! A box social is a social event for the whole community, usually
involving a picnic lunch or supper, during which decorated gift boxes,
brought by the guests, are auctioned off as a fundraiser for the
organisation that hosts the social. Fill a box with gift items,
non-perishable food items, etc, decorate the box, and bring it down. Spend
the afternoon visiting with old friends and making new ones! Prizes for
most creative boxes! Free admission, 5:00 - 8:00 PM. No-host barbecue
begins at 5:30, auction of boxes around 6:00

Saturday, September 18: Quilt Show and Sale
Antique quilts, modern quilts, and everything in between, all on display in
the Museum's exhibit galleries. Some are from the Museum's collection, some
are on loan from local quilters, and some may be for sale. Everyone is
welcome to display a quilt; if you would like to show or sell your quilt or
other needle art, just give us a call! Admission $2 per person, 10:00 - 5:00

And, of course, the Museum is open daily, from 10:00 - 5:00 until August 28,
and Monday-Saturday, 10:00 - 3:30 August 29-September 18.
