Teck Resources Donates $1 Million to Historic BC Museum of Mining

Funds go towards the museum's Britannia Project, which focuses on
transformation and redevelopment

Britannia Beach, BC: Teck Resources Limited, Canada's largest diversified
mining company, has donated $1 million to the historic BC Museum of Mining,
a mining education centre located in Britannia Beach near Squamish, BC.

The funds will go towards the museum's three-phase redevelopment project,
known as the "Britannia Project", focused on preserving its heritage
buildings and mining collections, creating an enhanced visitor experience
and transforming the historic mining site into a vibrant internationally
recognized destination.

"On behalf of everyone at Teck, we are pleased to be able to support the BC
Museum of Mining and the terrific work that it does," said Don Lindsay,
President and CEO of Teck Resources. "The museum plays a vital role in
preserving the history of mining in BC and educating the public about the
incredibly important contribution that responsible mining makes to people's
lives."

The BC Museum of Mining promotes mining awareness through entertaining,
experiential education programs, important historic collection preservation
and insightful public engagement about the environment and sustainability
issues. Surrounded by the majestic Coastal Mountains and the spectacular
beauty of Howe Sound, the museum provides a unique blend of entertainment
and information that allows guests to leave with a better understanding of
mining in BC; past, present and future.

"We are honoured to receive Teck's generous contribution," says Kirstin
Clausen, executive director of the BC Museum of Mining. "Their support will
ensure that we can save and share the rich history of Britannia Beach and
use it as a platform to educate the public about the important role the BC
mining industry has played in the province's success, showcasing its
relevance today and into the future."

"We are extremely grateful to our generous donors for their continued
support," says Michael McPhie, Co-Chair of the Britannia Beach Historical
Society, the operator of the BC Museum of Mining, and Director of the
Britannia Development Corporation Director. "The Museum's role in preserving
the history of mining through collections and valuable education programs as
well as its important community presence would not be possible without the
help of leaders from the mining industry like Teck."

The museum's attractions include 15 historic buildings and an underground
mining tunnel as well as the recently completed $5 million rehabilitation of
the 20-storey Mill Building, a National Historic Site and one of the last
gravity-fed concentrator mills in North America.

The Britannia Project, due for completion in late summer, will offer an
exciting new venue for local arts and culture as well as provide visitors
with a memorable experience, celebrating ideas and practices of renewal and
sustainability. The new site will feature restored heritage buildings,
historic research and preservation, education exhibits and services, arts
and culture initiatives, fun family entertainment and engagement about
mining.
