This summer is the perfect time to drop by the Fraser River Discovery Centre
New Westminster Summer is upon us and the Fraser River Discovery Centre
welcomes you to join in on all the fun activities that they are offering
this summer!
As the sun returns to the skies, visitors can take advantage of the warm
weather and join Discovery Centre Interpreters for a game of Boardwalk
BINGO. Its free to play! While strolling down the boardwalk, discover
amazing facts about the Boats, Industries, eNvironment, Geography, and the
Olden Days of the Fraser River. Winners receive a small prize, including a
VIP tour of the Discovery Centre.
There are also plenty of new activities to try inside the Discovery Centre.
Come in for a guided tour of the main exhibits, Build-a-boat: Wooden Boat
Building on the Fraser River and The Ripple Effect. Families are invited to
Get Messy together at different activity stations. In the Archaeology
tent, use real archaeologists tools and techniques to uncover amazing
stories of the river. Then head over to the Pollution Model and create
pollution yourself before watching what happens when the rain sweeps it
away. Then take action to keep the river clean. Or why not learn about
historical boat-building techniques and try out wood-working skills in the
boat building exhibit. Visitors can use real boat materials to build a
sculpture. Whether you come during the week or join one of the guided tours
on the weekends, visitors can expect to get their hands dirty!
The Discovery Centre is now open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm.
Activities are geared to 5-9 year olds. Guided tours of the exhibits and
Boardwalk Bingo will be offered on most weekends. Check out the Fraser River
Discovery Centres calendar of events on their website for details.
