Hi Lynn,
We have toyed with this here at the Chilliwack Museum:
http://www.chilliwackmuseum.ca/index.php?option=com_flippingbook&view=book&i
d=2%3Athe-bc-electric-railway&catid=2%3Aexhibit-publications&Itemid=127
I heard about it from the Visual Arts Department at UFV who uses this for
their student projects. While ours are likely not as sophisticated as
Chapters etc (it would be great to have index and chapters, have text
searchable etc)... it seems to be good for online. We purchased for (I
think) $70 something called flippingbook (http://page-flip.com/) - I know
you can also make it from scratch with Flash and likely other programs.
Apparently Adobe In-Design has the capability also but I haven't explored
it.
I have to work on the quality of ours a bit - flipping book works by
uploading jpegs into the program. So have to play with which resolution
works best. We are going to use them here, as a sort of 'teaser' to
hopefully sell some of our books, for our brochures and also for our
exhibition catalogues.
Hope that helps, that's all I got! If you find out some good info - do let
me know!

Subject: [BCMA] Looking for information about eBooks
Hello,
I am looking for information about eBooks and editing software the could be
used with them. I recently went to a Chapters with my children and saw that
they were profiling some that were surprisingly easy to read, contained
great images, were easy to handle and use AND could withstand wear and tear.
Anyone out there in the museum world work with these yet? I would want to
be able to create our own eBook that could be modified and edited as need.
Any information about software, brand names and hardware would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Lynn
