NEW EXHIBITION


Building Surrey, 1890's-Present

Architecture, People & Places That Shape the City

>From the rustic log cabin to the futuristic design of Central City, this
exhibit will give an introduction to building history, land use, and
architecture styles with a focus on the significance of Surrey's built
heritage. View innovative projects utilizing traditional approaches and
building materials as well as incorporating new, modular, sustainable,
and green technologies. Explore the philosophy and design of projects
from five local Architects, Builders and Planners and imagine the work
that went on in a 1930's architect's office. Hear ideas and give us your
thoughts on the future of architecture in Surrey. 

 

Building History, Architecture Inspired from Old To New

Saturday, March 20, 10:00-12:00 noon, by donation (16+) 

Donald Luxton, a local, well respected heritage consultant, preservation
advocate and author will give a talk on approaches to the strategic
management of historic resources and what it takes to motivate, assess,
and restore residential, commercial and institutional buildings. He will
give examples of projects that have inspired communities to revitalize

Building Blocks for Kids

Saturday, April 17, 1:30-3:00 pm, $8,  (5-9 yrs) 

Discover doll houses, blocks and puzzles. Learn about old-fashioned
building toys from Crescent Beach Toys then design your own building
from a variety of materials. 

 

'Building Surrey' will run from March 6-May 9, and is open Saturdays and
Sundays from 12noon-4:00pm in the Stewart Hall, Historic Stewart Farm,
13723 Crescent Road or by appointment. Suggested admission is $5/adult,
$3.75 students, $2/50/child & youth, 5 & under free. For more
