EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
RECEPTIONIST
The Delta Museum and Archives is seeking a permanent part-time Receptionist
to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to
work within a team environment of a community museum and archives' cultural
setting.
Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director through the Administrative Assistant,
the Receptionist will be responsible for:
* visitor reception and answering public inquiries about DMAS hours of
operation, location, exhibition, program information, and related matters,
* the general day to day operation of the DMAS, including overseeing
the maintenance of all office equipment and ordering of necessary supplies
* provide administrative support to the Executive Director,
Administrative Assistant and Program Coordinator, including typing of
correspondence, filing, faxing and photocopying, coordination of all
mailouts
* booking/registrations of school and public programs, special events
and facility, including registering participants, collecting appropriate
fees and providing confirmation and/or receipts for payment of fees
* maintaining the safety and security of DMAS buildings, contents and
visitors, including communicating maintenance, security and janitorial
issues and liaising with the appropriate external contacts regarding same
* the operations of the gift shop, including acquiring and maintaining
inventory

Qualifications:
* Minimum 3 to 5 years previous office and volunteer management
experience with a not-for-profit organization; or an equivalent combination
of education, training and experience;
* Proven excellent customer service skills and enjoys working with the
public;
* Proven ability to work under pressure and to multi-task; to work
independently with minimal direction; to problem solve and take initiative;
to anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take the appropriate actions,
to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines;
* Excellent ability in typing, spelling and grammar (keyboarding of
50-60 wpm), together with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,
particularly Word, Excel and Publisher;
* Experience and proficiency with databases is an asset;
* Willingness and ability to work independently on projects and
collaborate as a strong team member;
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and
written;
* Innovation and creativity to continuously improve internal
processes;
* Interest in tourism and working in a cultural setting.
Hours:
* Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00am to 4:00pm (27.5 hours per week).
Additional hours may be required to cover vacation and other staff absences.
Rate of Pay: $16.38 per hour, plus benefits
