On exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery:



Dysfunctional Chairs: 
Trevor Mahovsky & Rhonda Weppler: The Searchers
May 15 to September 26, 2010

 

The Kelowna Art Gallery has commissioned Vancouver-based artist-duo
Trevor Mahovsky and Rhonda Weppler to create the fifth in our series of
Dysfunctional Chairs installations in our outdoor Rotary Courtyard
space. Deciding that the greatest degree of dysfunction would be
complete absence, the artists have dispensed with chairs altogether and
will be installing sculpted, clothed, brightly-painted human figures
along the roofline of the space. 

 

Mahovsky and Weppler met when they were both graduate students at the
University of British Columbia in Vancouver in the mid 1990s. They began
working as a team in 2004, and have achieved remarkable success since
then, with invitations to exhibit in various Canadian and international
centres.

 

This exhibition runs from May 15 to September 26, 2010.

The Kelowna Art Gallery, located at 1315 Water Street is open Tuesday to
Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday until 9 pm, Sundays from 1 pm to 4
pm, Mondays 1 pm to 4 pm (July & August). Admission to the gallery is $5
for individuals, $4 for students and seniors or $10 for a family. 
FREE admission on Thursdays from 3 - 9 pm.
