BC Museums Association Preconference Workshop : Secrets from Exhibit Designers: How to Work With What You've Got
Date: Wednesday, October 27, 9:00am to 4:00pm
Location: Vancouver Island Conference Centre, Nanaimo
Are you overworked and underfunded?  Are you wearing too many hats?  This workshop is designed for the staff of small museums on a tight budget.  Exhibit designers share a few of their secrets on developing new exhibits or revamping what you've got, while not spending a budget you don't have.  See how to involve the community and transform your exhibits and increase support.  Bring your challenges to this hands-on workshop.
Topics will include:
*       Exhibits Overview: confronting the problems - involving community
*       Text panels: overview, effective writing, graphics and labels
*       Visitor circulation, pacing and content flow
*       Design tips: overview, showcase layout design, lighting, design problem solving
