[BCMA] Photos available

To aid all in describing the photos, I suggest that we number them
starting as 1 on upper left, and carry on to the right 2, 3, etc.  then
down to next line and carry on numbering to a total of 18 

New Westminster Museum and Archives would be interested in the photos of
the three paddlewheelers which are listed below as all have direct
connection to our city.

1.       Building - ?

2.       The "Birdcages" (old provincial legislative buildings) in
Victoria BC. Appears to be BC Archives photo A-02776 cropped. 

3.       Log cabin - ?

4.       Workmen and shelter - ?

5.       Engine 374 (preserved on Davie Street in Vancouver at the
Roundhouse) arriving with the first passenger train (and
transcontinental train I believe) in to Vancouver on 23 May 1887. Among
the passengers were Jesse and Martha Love and some of their children
(those born as of that date). We moved their 1893 house to Burnaby
Village Museum and restored it to the 1925 period.  BC Archives photo

6.       Ship on rocks - This was the "Princess May" on Sentinel Island
where she ran aground August 5, 1910. She was later salvaged. Photo and

7.       Totem poles - Skidegate, Queen Charlotte Islands c. 1866-1870

13.   Side-wheeler in water is the "Wilson G. Hunt" which was built in
1849 for the Coney Island use, came to San Francisco and was eventually
bought by our Captain John Irving.  Photo appears on p. 28 of BC-Yukon

14.   Street in a town - ?

15.   Side-wheeler SS Beaver on Cook's Ways in Victoria Harbour (i.e.
hauled up on shore for repair) BC Archives photo A-00013 WANTED BY NEW

16.   SS William Irving at Emory Bar. Another of Capt John Irving's
ships. This photo appears p. 42 of BC-Yukon Sternwheel Days by Art

17.   Train on trestle - ?

1.       Town in valley - Barkerville?

I expect other readers can identify most of the other photos as they
appear to be of Hope, Barkerville etc.

Hi, everyone,

The Creston Museum has recently acquired a collection of postcard-type
photos, all 5 x 7', most of them not identified, but definitely not of
Creston. Some are pretty well-known photos, but I haven't been able to
figure out many of them.  Anyone able to help identify these?  Anyone
interested in having them for your collections?
