Subject: [BCMA] Osoyoos Museum receives Plaskett landscapes

The Osoyoos Museum has received a major gift of landscape drawings, donated
by celebrated Canadian artist and recipient of the Order of Canada , Joseph
Plaskett.

Joe spent many childood summers in Osoyoos with his parents to visit family
and friends. He frequently returned, and on his most recent trip here in
September, presented the Osoyoos Museum Society with a body of 25 pastel
landscape drawings, created between 1956 and 1988.

Gayle Cornish, Executive Director of the Osoyoos Museum, accepted the works
and was ecstatic. "This is a thrilling development, not only for our
community and our museum, but for the arts community at large. These
drawings are an historic and faithful record of the landscape as it was, and
are a testament to his love of the area. They are a source of great
community pride! Most residents in Osoyoos know Joe Plaskett. He is well
repected and well loved in this community."

In a recent letter, Plaskett said, " I wish I had stayed at least a couple
more days in the Okanagan, EVEN TO DO A FEW NEW PASTELS! But the joy of
being once again in that much loved landscape with so many rich friendships
and past memories fill me with joy."

Plans are already underway to exhibit the Osoyoos pastels by Joe Plaskett at
galleries throughout the province in 2011 and 2012.
