Nanaimo District Museum hosts the 54th Conference of the B.C. Museum 
Association, starting tomorrow.

The four-day event focuses on the directions of museums in the future 
and looks at how museums need to stay relevant.

Nina Simon will give a keynote address about how museums function and 
how they present themselves for their specific audiences.

The museum will also host an exhibit of Museum People, which features 
the photography of Ken Mayer and looks at people interacting in museums.

The exhibit is open from Oct. 15 through Dec. 30.

The Nanaimo Museum will close on Thursday in order to accommodate the 
200 delegates, but will reopen between noon and 5 p.m. on both Friday 
and Saturday.
