[BCMA] Museum Collections Management Workshop

Hi Everyone,


The Heritage Federation of Southeast British Columbia (HFSEBC) is
pleased to present its first educational workshop on Saturday September
25, 2010 in Creston.  The workshop is aimed to assist member and
non-member heritage organizations in southeastern BC tackle the many
issues that come with operating and managing small to mid-sized museums.
We look forward to welcoming you to this comprehensive one-day workshop,
learning from one another and finding practical solutions to managing
our growing collections.

This workshop has been designed to teach participants how to identify
and fix many of the problems found in museum collections. Participants
will learn to plan a strategy from which to deal with each problem and
acquire practical techniques for solving and avoiding future issues.
Topics of discussion include:
- Ownership and clear title
- Record Keeping
- Processing
- Vulnerable artifacts
- Storage strategies
- Donations and loans

The workshop fees include a useful companion package prepared especially
for the course.

Lunch and refreshments are also included in the workshop fees.

The deadline for registration is September 10, 2010.
