[BCMA] Creston Museum Quilt Show and Sale

an imageThe Creston Museum is getting upholstered!  With quilts of all
shapes, sizes, colours and ages!

 

As of right now, we have 78 quilts on loan for the quilt show on Saturday.
That doesn't include the twenty or so vintage quilts from the Museum's own
collection, or the additional ones that we expect to come in over the next
couple of days.  So Saturday's quilt show is going to be pretty impressive!

This is one of my favourites - a bargello-style twin-size in a heart
pattern.  There's also a gorgeous "Tribute to Galileo" and a really
interesting one called "Living in Canada."  And a spectacular appliquéd wall
hanging called “Phoenix Rising.”  As well as a few lovely friendship quilts,
which are always special.  Oh – and the stunning stained glass one.  And 

well, maybe you should just check them out yourself.

We're expecting a 100-year-old quilt soon, as well as three or four from the
1930s.  Of course, the Wynndel Quilt and the Victory Circle quilt, among the
most popular from the Museum's collection, will be on display as well.

39 items so far are for sale, and there's everything from coiled fabric
bowls to wall hangings and lap quilts to full-size quilts.  The "Galileo"
for example  is a king-size.



The Quilts for Kids ladies will have about fifteen of their quilts on
display, and they’ll be hard at work on Saturday – you can watch them
creating the quilts they send to children in need all over the world, and
talk to them about what they do.  They’ll have quilt blocks for sale – all
proceeds support their work – and the coffee and goodies will be ready!

The Quilt Show and Sale runs from 10:00 to 5:00 on Saturday - don't miss it!
