Cruising Through Delta's Rich History
Delta, BC - The Delta Museum & Archives Society is once again conducting its
popular Fraser River Delta Historical Cruises on Saturdays May 14 and May
21, 2011 - 10am to 3:00pm. Hop aboard and discover the rich and fascinating
history of Delta and the Fraser River from a new perspective, while enjoying
a five hour, fully-narrated scenic cruise along the shores of the Fraser
River.
While meandering along the mouth of the mighty Fraser River, the rich
history of the Fraser and its shorelines will be shared. From the fishing
camps of the First Nations people to the European settlers that came in
pursuit of gold, the Fraser River has a diverse and multicultural story to
be discovered.
Tickets are limited and selling fast so reserve yours today! Tickets can be
purchased at either the Delta Museum or at the Delta Archives sites for
$45.00 a person (pre-registration and pre-payment is required). Participants
are encouraged to pack a bagged lunch and dress for the weather, as these
cruises will take place rain or shine (boats are covered), leaving from
Captain's Cove Mariner.
Don't forget to bring your camera, as the scenery en route is breathtaking
and will provide some wonderful photo opportunities as the cruise travels
the waters up-river providing history on North Delta, including Gunderson
Slough, Annieville, the banks of River Road, Alex Fraser Bridge, and the Don
and Lion Islands.
