**A 25-foot RCN motor cutter, believed to be from the River Class
destroyer HMCS Fraser, the first man-of-war lost in WW II, in June 1940.
The boat carries two bronze roundels, port and starboard, with the
stag's head, emblem of the Fraser clan, with a crown above. At eighty
years old, the hull is in remarkably good condition. The famous naval
architect Bill Garden designed and built a stand-up wheelhouse onto the
boat in 1950 in such a way that its removal would return the boat to her
original state if such were wanted for museum display. Perkins 4-108
diesel engine, recently rebuilt, with very low number of hours. New mast
and boom for custom-made boom tent, fitted cockpit cushions; bronze
shaft, log and propeller; semi-balanced rudder hangs on a bronze casting
which comprises the sternpost and lower gudgeon; both wheel and tiller
steering, dual controls, fish-finder. Two-plate cast iron wood-burning
stove for heat in the wheelhouse. Planked mahogany foredeck, teak
cockpit rails, bronze fittings. Lapstrake planking on oak frames.
This boat is for donation to a museum (or private sale also).
