Speaking of Nova Scotian schooners ... Does anyone know where the "Rob Roy" is?

My father brought this Nova Scotian schooner out to Vancouver via Lake of the Woods (a long story that) about 1970.

She was an old wooden Tancook schooner which had operated as a sail-powered fishing boat out of Nova Scotia. We purchased her in Chester NS and her lines are the same as the Bluenose – have a look at a Canadian dime. The grooves in the gunwales were from old hand held fish lines.

We called her "Rob Roy" added a Graymarine engine, and rerigged her as a sloop. Her registration number was 29A402.

My late father sold the boat to a young man in the Vancouver area in the 1970s. We do not know who bought it or what happened to the boat. If anyone comes across it, please let me know. I have tried a search through the registration number and have had no luck.

The documentary was filmed during the summer of 2011 and includes scenes from the Nova Scotia Schooner Association annual race week as well as the reconstruction of Bluenose II which is currently underway in Lunenburg.

The beauty and grace ofᾠthese schooners is captivating and I'll wager that anyone with even a drop of salt water in their veins will love this film.ᾢ
